Win 7 ultimate 64 bit

Hi all.
New to OBS. Watched vids online and some say it will work others say no. Issue. OBS records desktop no problem then when game starts it records sound but pic is black. I cannot find any real! Info on how to fix for win7 64bit. Any help.id appreciate.

Win 7 is no longer supported.

Upgrading to Windows 10 or 11 would be your best option. It's still free by Microsoft. Windows 7 isn't supported by current OBS any more. You might try older OBS versions, however there is no support for these in the community any more. OBS has evolved so much since then and addressed so many of these "black screen" issues since the last version that was able to run under Windows 7, it's no use to keep obsolete support information alive.

For Win7 you need to back in time by few pages (by the given link, see below), then you may find the release that was compatible with the win7 --> the OBS v.26.1.1 under the "Assets" spoiler, here the link to all releases:

Newer OBS has injection code for the game capture that is not compatible with the old OS.
And make sure that you have cleared the "C:\ProgramData\obs-studio-hook\" folder before using older OBS.
