Hi Y'all,

New to OBS.

First let me express my deep appreciation to all those who have so generously helped to develope this great app. Very impressive. Well done!

That said:

Here's where I could really use some expert help. But first, the parameters of my setup:

OBS 28.03

WIN 11 HOME 64
chrome Version 107.0.5304.87 (Official Build) (64-bit)
CPU INTEL i7-12700kf
16 gb
GPU Nividia GeForce 3060 12 gb
4 x 1920x1080 monitors - set to native rez in Settings

For days now I've been trying to screen record just a relatively small portion of the a browser window(see attached), 4:3 640x400p ntsc sd.

When I create a Source>Windows Capture, and attempt to limit the actual recorded area by resizing/cropping (ALT+LMB) ,I still get a full rez 1920x1080 video with the video located in the center of the browser (transform>center of screen) sourround by black (image attached) of VLC Media with codec info.

I've also tried using a filter Filter>Crop/Pad but get the same result...also 1920x1080 surounded by black.

I tried everything recommended on this form and you tube...but still get the same result. I'm sure it's probably something that I'm not doing correctly.

If it matters, the reason I want to limit the size of the image and not include the surrounding black is because I intend to load into Topaz Video AI (2.6.4 and 3.01) ultimately into Davinci Resolve 18, No reason to attempt to AI enhance the black around the image, as it may afffect how the AI preceives it...and to mitigate output file size in both OBS and TVAI.

Your thoughts?

Any help, greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Koz

Thanks R1ch, I had tried that, but all that does is decrease the overall output size of video still leaving the black surrounding the video...

Only options in base (canvas) rez in 1920x1080 and 1280x720...16:9...still does not change/fix the cropping issue...but thanks.

I am having the same issue. I want to CROP the EXISTING resolution so that I record only a defined portion of the screen. I am trying to do the same thing as KOZ. I tried Window Capture, but that just slams the Window up against the left of the capture and still leaves the unwanted black space to the right and below. Is it not possible to capture only a portion of the entire display?

I am also having the same issue, with virtually the same settings:
WIN 11 HOME 64
chrome Version 107.0.5304.87 (Official Build) (64-bit)
1920x1080 monitor - set to native rez in Settings

This is such a recurring issue with OBS users around the world, I'm surprised someone hasn't come out with a very detailed post coming it.
Looking for some help with this folks.
Thanks very much,
Ed in Ohio.
