Question / Help Will new video card improve streaming?

I reference this thread: https://obsproject.com/forum/threads/does-graphics-card-make-a-difference.69280/

In which it is stated that the GPU makes a difference.

I currently have an AMD FX-8350 with GTX-660. I did my research and as far as playing games is concerned, a new video card would not make a difference in gameplay. However, if I am also streaming and playing at the same time, would a more powerful GPU make a difference then? My limited intelligence seems to think that if I bought a new GTX-1080 or better, half of it would get used playing the game, so maybe OBS would use the other half? If this is true, then I may want to invest in a new video card even with this CPU. Can anyone help me out here?

Here is what I tried streaming today. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/474489607

This is no video, this is a slideshow. You severely overloaded your machine. It's not clear if a better video card will improve this. Usually, CPU and GPU must be balanced and somewhat equal to each other. Your current setup is balanced. A gtx 1080 is so much more powerful than a gtx 660 that the CPU is probably not be able to utilize the more power of the 1080, so it might be a waste. A balanced CPU for a GTX 1080 is a better Intel Core i5 or i7 CPU (dunno which AMD CPU fits here, sorry), but the FX-8350 is three CPU generations behind.

If you want to create videos instead of slideshows, use Tools->Auto Configuration Wizard and start from the settings you get out of it.

To add to Koala's reply, Ryzen 5 1600 is the cheapest AMD chip that won't bottleneck a GTX 1080 up to 1440p@60FPS. If buying a new system, I would go for latest gen chips though, like the Ryzen 5 3600.

For higher refresh rate monitors or uncapped FPS, Intel processors have an edge, though how much that matters depends on the user, settings and game played.
