Will an eGPU help with OBS performance?

I'm trying to stream to Facebook with a 2019 MacBook Air. Performance hasn't been great so far, and OBS has crashed a fair bit too.

Can anyone tell me if an eGPU will help with OBS encoding performance?

Absolutely won't.
eGPUs are limited to pci-e x4 in speed, and OBS basically requires x6.
