I've been told to that if I want to improve the speed of my laptop, I should add an SSD. I'm curious, will this make any type of difference to what my laptop can already handle as far as recording goes?
By that I mean, will adding an SSD contribute in anyway to recording gameplay coming from a game console through my elgato HD 60? And by contribute, I mean will it make the quality of my videos better or is OBS relying entirely on my CPU?
I can already record 1080p 60 FPS with a webcam overlay but I notice the video always starts off choppy the first few seconds but picks up and (for the most part) stays stable. I haven't recorded any videos over a few minutes as I've been in testing mode this whole weekend so I don't know how long the stability will maintain throughout a single recording session.
I'm using CRF at 7 and key frames intervals at 2.
I have a dell precision m4600 with an i7 2760 qm processor.
Nvidia quadro 1000m
and 8 gigs of ram.
If adding an SSD will in someway make the recording of gameplay easier/better for my laptop I will buy one. If the only thing it will do is just speed up the process of opening/moving files and programs then I think I shouldn't bother.
