so what I'm trying to do is export a transparent background game clip (the game has an option for transparent background recording with its camera obs sees it as transparent (cause i can stream and it works) but if export in avi or mov it just spits out an black background. WHY CANT IT EXPORT WITH AN ALPHA CHANNEL.

The color format (NV12 etc.), the encoder (H.264 etc.) and the file format (mp4 etc.) have all to support an alpha channel to result in a video file containing transparency.
It's difficult to find a working combination. My knowledge is this:
I'd try BGRA with hevc (h.265) as *.mkv first. However, don't expect speed and performance, since BGRA isn't hardware accelerated. P410 and P416 are HDR color formats, I don't know how they will behave if used in a SDR workflow.

For vp9, you need to use custom ffmpeg output.

To create transparency for game capture, add a chroma key or color key filter to the capture source. The green screen concept works with every source, not only with a camera.

I'm sorry, I don't have any configuration for recording with transparency. I tried to help you creating one yourself by providing all the info I have. I didn't see a corresponding configuration here in the forum yet.
