WHY CAN'T I CAPTURE AUDIO ANYMORE

I've gone through all the settings (that i know of) in both Windows and OBS. I made sure OBS has permission, I made sure i linked/selected the correct audio device. I can get the video linked fine and my mic works. So i tried updating drivers. it didn't help. Then i made sure the audio devices were set as my default device and that didn't help either. Worst part is it worked a year ago and i was trying to capture it in surround (5.1) and went through a few settings in OBS itself. I'm almost certain i put them back to default and even deleted all my files associated with OBS and reinstalled it and still the same result.

ANY IDEAS? Anything is appreciated, thanks.

What device do you want to use as audio input and it don't work? You only wrote "...video linked fine and my mic works". So it works?

Desrcibe more in detail please. If useful, upload an recent obs log file here.
"worked a year ago" means alot of differences in terms of an updated windows machine. (Alot of changes by updates over a year.)

Presumably the most probably case is that (being your default audio device) some part of your current windows installation uses that audio device by default, hence having it opened and (possibly exclusively) locked it when OBS tries to open it.
So your OBS log file could tell you more about.
