Question / Help Which NVENC preset to use?

I would like to make an informed decision about which NVENC preset to use for varying use cases. Can anyone explain the differences between them? Osiris has informed me that there is no documentation available, so it it just guesswork? Perhaps someone has done some testing?

Would prefer not to just "oh some guy on the interwebs said to use this one so I am".

That's not really a technical documentation about the preset, but recommendation is better than nothing. I'm a bit surprised that for recording, Nvidia recommends VBR and not CQP in this sheet.

The version of the cited document says "NVENC_VideoEncoder_API_PG-06155-001_v06 | October 2015 "
