Hi people,

I am not sure if this is the right place to ask the question. But gonna try it anyways.

Currently I am trying to stream with this macbook

MacBook Pro Retina 13 inch Early 2015
2.7GHz Processor
128GB Storage
2.7GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor
Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz
8GB 1866MHz memory
128GB PCIe-based SSD1
Intel Iris Graphics 6100
Two Thunderbolt 2 ports

and looking at

MacBook Pro 15 inch 2015
2.2GHz Processor
256GB Storage
2.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor
Turbo Boost up to 3.4GHz
16GB 1600MHz memory
256GB PCIe-based SSD1
Intel Iris Pro Graphics
Two Thunderbolt 2 ports
$ 1,999.00

or

MacBook Pro 15 inch 2016
Touch Bar and Touch ID
2.6GHz Processor
256GB Storage
2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor
Turbo Boost up to 3.5GHz
16GB 2133MHz memory
256GB PCIe-based SSD1
Radeon Pro 450 with 2GB memory
Four Thunderbolt 3 ports
Touch Bar and Touch ID

$ 2,399.00

The macbook is used for:
- php-storm combined with obs streaming, webcam / microphone
- playing a game once in a while for relaxation. ( I know games say buy a real pc and don't waste money on a macbook. I accept that. And money is not the issue for me. )
- The investment is for several years.
- While travelling I will be using the 13 inch and 15 inch
- A desktop in not an option cause I travel a lot.
- Is the 400 dollar worth to spend on the newer one ?

thanks for your help.

Regards Jerome

If you plan on playing any type of game on it, do yourself a favor and look at higher end models with discrete graphics.

I have a max spec'd 2015 15 inch w/ AMD 370x and it is sufficient enough to be a mobile desktop. I even played The Division and GTA 5 on it (via bootcamp) before I built my desktop computer.

In regards to streaming, you could technically stream with any of them. I originally started streaming with a 2012 13 inch i7 dual-core. Was it perfect? No, but it did the job. I no longer stream through my 15 inch because I now have a desktop and I play at higher resolutions than my game capture will pass, but using x264 encoding was a breeze on the quad core i7 and using the discrete GPU for encoding is a plus as well.

Hi tooSimplex,
Thanks for the info. Picked the MacBook Pro 15 inch 2016 with a Radeon Pro 460 with 4GB memory
