Question / Help Which Intel CPU for 720p 60 FPS medium presets x264

Hello Guys and girls

First of all, this is my first post, so I apologize, If this post is in a wrong forum.

Im about to build a dedicated streaming PC (for twitch) and I need your expertise in order to choose the right CPU to do the job for me.

I have following requirements for the CPU:

- Must be an Intel CPU (reason for that, is that I then have the possibillity to chose a M-ITX case, since I dont have to use a GFX card in the setup)
- The CPU must handle 720p 60 FPS on Medium or slow presets in x264
- The games I will be streaming are: CS:GO and PubG
- I have following internet connection: 250/250 mbit, so this want be a problem.

I hope you are able to help me to find the CPU who can handle my requrements. Ofc I could Buy the ned 9900K, but if a cheaper CPU can handle the same job for me I dont see any reason to make an overkill.



If it has any Impact my main PC has following specs:

CPU: 7700K
Ram: 32 GB 3000 MHZ Corsair
GPU: 1070 GTX
SSD

Why do you need medium or slow preset? There is no visual difference between fast preset and these. The quality difference can be computed and shown in numbers (psnr values), but your eyes will not see the difference.

Do you have an offer for which Intel CPU I need to do 720p 60fps fps on faster preset then? (Dedicated pc)

I'm sorry, I don't know of a benchmark or a report that lists which resolutions require which CPU as minimum.

You can always start with your current PC. How does it perform compared to your requirement? You have a i7 7700k. Is it able to encode 720p@60 with fast preset if you don't run a game in parallel but use a pre-made video as source? How much dropped frames due to encoding lag, if not? If dropped frames, you see how much percent the new CPU may probably need to be more powerful than your old.
Then grab a benchmark such as https://www.cpubenchmark.net/ and see which CPU may be the solution if you compare their performance score.
