Hi all, I'm considering to update my PC recently as CPU has evolved dramatically during the past two years. Just wondering how effective are the CPUs with more cores in terms of streaming? Tech media usually use an old benchmark software(x264 benchmark 5.0.1) to measure CPUs' ability to encode x264, but I doubt if that actually reflects the performance in OBS streaming.
My primary use of OBS is to record gameplay and a bit of streaming @60fps 1080p. Do have a capture card to record console gameplay as well. My 6700k @4.9GHz is having some dropped frames while I record Splatoon 2 gameplay @9000 bitrate VBR & 20CRF & faster preset.
As video quality is all I care about, what can I do to improve encoding quality? I'm considering to buy 2950x or 9900k, but I don't know how big a difference will there be. Also, is there any configuration that I can make to increase the latency of streaming in order to get higher quality?
