Hello,

I would like to record professional (or semi professional) videos of lessons in 1080p. I use Arch Linux and my question is more related to the hardware.

I would like to know of good hardware options to record such videos that is easy to get recognized on Linux. I have seen arguments in favor and against DLSR cameras. I would like to know your opinions also. Herewith some examples of the quality/format of the lessons I would like to produce:
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOpzc16V1qE

Given the description, would a good webcam be enough? Which hardware would you get?

I have a Canon 1300D but I wasn't able to use it directly on OBS on Linux so far (I don't have any Windows at all). If you know how to use it, please tell me and also if it would meet the expected quality.

Thank you.

Hi,

For starters, getting a good lightning setup is more important than the camera, so I would do research on that first.

For example, I did video game streams with Logitech C910/920 webcams (well they are good webcams though) and a couple of LED panels (Yongnuo YN300 if I remember correctly).

EDIT: Now I noticed. Do you want to stream your classes? If you only need to record classes, you don't need to capture video on your computer, you can record on your camera and then edit the video later.
