Bug Report When will OBS become usable under Windows?

I know the dev(s) has some grudge against Windows (mostly a Max user), for example it took like years the first version was even downloaded as a compiled EXE for Windows.

But serious question, when will it become usable under Windows? Because in it's current state, it's obvious that you can't use it.

Game capture, especially find game via title is a mess and buggy as hell.

- when you open OBS, defined game captures are mostly 0,0 px (can't find games anymore even if correct title)
- clicking around editing those, often lead to OBS app crashes
- defined game capture randomly are wrong order => you define game x y z, and then it shows game with title y as the area of x: (http://i.imgur.com/NM3ZcQ6.png => http://i.imgur.com/fZQfzYv.png)
- and so on... (at least 10 bugs to find in just 10 minutes of usage)

Having more defined areas with game capture title find mostly lead to 2 out of 3 working, randomly.

Workaround: closing those apps, reopening them, closing them, reopening, some when it's working.

It's perfectly usable on windows... sure there are bugs (as all programs do) but nothing to make it unusable.

No (: And it's the same kind of answer "philosophy" I learned to love before in this forum. Look in the thread. I asked two people to test it and they can easily reproduce it on their PCs. If you use Game Capture + title find, it is unusable.

So why not use a different window match priority, or use the game capture hotkey instead?

The different game capture method options exists specifically for reasons like this.

Is this a serious meant answer? "Title process find does not work" Dev answer: "Why not use another find method?" Seriously? Maybe because I have three or more processes open of the same game? And the only way to find/seperate them is the title? ProcessID is no option because it changes after each restart, and I would need to select each Game/Window again (which btw mostly lead to OBS app crash). I have x game processes of the same game, have specific parts of each game to be included into several scenes, and then capture also from a scene into another scene. I will test the hotkey "workaround" and will report back.

Also i don't really know what you mean with "use game hotkey capture". I have x game processes of the same game, have specific parts of each game to be included into several scenes, and then capture also from a scene into another scene. How on earth would hotkeys help in this? Maybe it woud "help", but OBS just allows one hotkey to change capture which doesn't make any sense, because the moment where you have more than 1 game source, it would become obsolete.

First, I'm not a dev, and never claimed to be. There's only one developer for OBS, and that's @Jim.

Second, Game Capture Hotkey allows you to select which program OBS will capture by pressing a hotkey when it's active. This should work for your niche use case. You can set the hotkey for each game capture source in Settings -> Hotkeys.

Third, if you're getting actual OBS crashes (the "Oops! OBS has crashed" window) then please share the crash logs so they can be examined to determine what's going on.

Please understand that your current use case is very specific and doesn't fall under 99% of OBS Studio users. If there are bugs to be found in this space, let's try and work together to get them fixed. The issues that you're describing here, however, are not specifically bugs (outside possibly the crash condition), but rather the nature of how the Windows operating system works.

I have tested your suggestion with the hotkey workaround (to tell OBS the process window handle, through I don't understand why title search doesn't work. it is simple, and obviously a nasty bug), chose for every game capture "hotkey" method, then selected under settings three keys for the three processes. Restarted OBS, selected one game (to front focus window), pressed the key, and nothing. It stays 0x0 px (red pixel of the frame in the preview window). Same problem, doesn't work.

The app is full of those nasty little bugs, for example if you havent changed a name for the scene and saved it, then it gets messed up and the app will crash if you load / save / load and create a new one and suddenly there are two scenes with the same name "Untitled" "Untitled" and the app doesn't know anymore which is which...

Can you provide some logs? They might explain what's going on. I've tested this method myself and it works just fine on my PC, though I don't have EVE specifically to test with.

Also, try resetting the source transform by clicking the game capture in the sources list, and pressing ctrl+r after the game has been selected with the hotkey.
