Question / Help What's the last version of OBS that can work on Mac OS X 10.9.5 Mavericks?

Hello everyone,

I'm using an early 2011 Macbook Pro that is running OS X 10.9.5 Mavericks. For now, I cannot update my OS for reasons I'd rather not get into.

What's the last version of Open Broadcaster Software that can work on 10.9 Mavericks? Links would be appreciated.

Also, I'm just curious, can I run version v0.657b on my Mac? I know someone who runs v0.657b of OBS on his PC. Is that version available for Mac too?

I would appreciate as much help as I can get, thank you.

Maybe OBS Studio 20.1.0. The builds would have switched to 10.10 as the official minimum required version in 20.1.1. I'm not 100% about that though, you might need a build older than that even (maybe one of the 18.x releases). Keep in mind that it's unlikely that someone here would be able to provide additional support for a version of OBS that old.

No. Windows only, and that version is EXTREMELY old at this point, over 3 years old and that branch should no longer be used at all as of 2 years ago.

What's the Mac equivalent to that version?
I ask because I remember seeing an interesting feature while I was watching someone streaming and he said that he was using that version of OBS. And I just thought that some old versions of OBS have exclusive features.

Thank you, I'll check it out. But I don't know which one I should download. Which one should I get? I've posted a screenshot below.

Probably 19.0.3.

Are you sure about that? Also which one should I choose? I've posted a screenshot below.

There isn't one. That entire branch was windows only. I'm not sure if ANY feature that was in classic that isn't in studio yet.

Oh, I see. Well I do hope the latest version still has all the things that all the previous versions have. Thanks.

Those are all versions of 20.x. They may work, but if not, look for 19.0.3.

Alright then, thanks. Would you please tell me which asset I should download? This is my first time using that site and I have no idea which asset link I should download. I see .pkg, .zip, .exe, etc. Which one should I download? I've posted a screenshot below.

You're on a Mac, so "mac"-labeled .pkg releases are what you would use.
Alright, thanks, I downloaded OBS 19.0.3 and according to Wayback Machine, 19.0.3 is compatibe with OS X 10.9.

However, it keeps shutting down on me no matter what I do. I was trying to adjust the setting and it keeps shutting down on me. Every time I click on Remux recordings, it always shuts down on me.

It also won't display my screen either. Every time I click on add display capture, nothing happens.

19.0.2 is the latest version that works for me, running Mavericks, and the last version that will let me load a VLC playlist. 19.0.3 won't recognize "add file" when I want to add a playlist, by the way. I've had no problems with 19.0.2 so far (knock wood).
