Question / Help What is wrong with my setup? Encoding overloaded

Hello, so i'm trying to stream with Software (x264) encoder but my pc is not able to handle it??? I am playing H1Z1 which is known for eating your CPU but i've seen people stream good quality even with worse pc's.

So mine is: i5 2500K @ 4.7Ghz, GTX 1060 6Gb overclocked, 16Gb Ram DDR3 1333Mhz, SSD drive and so on.

Log: https://gist.github.com/e3968314b6b67491d62b56ed5c386999

I am able to stream with Hardware (NVENC) Encoder with Encoder preset at High Quality, but the stream quality doesn't look that good even when outputting 3500 bitrate. So i would like to use that x264 but what the heck is wrong with my settings?

Number of skipped frames due to encoding lag: 6761 (22.7%)

Lower in game settings and cap frame rate if possible, check what else is taxing your cpu while streaming. Could also change encoder preset from very fast to ultra fast and see if that helps.

Try reducing quality to 540p

Shit man i already have lowest settings ingame and i don't want to cap my fps since i'm using 144hz monitor and want to have as high fps as possible.

I'm not reducing to 540p, instead i'd like to have that 720p on 60fps but just for that log file i used 30fps.

Yeah i guess there are no other options then..

I tried changing the veryfast to ultrafast and also increased to 60fps since i want that to be possible to stream due to high motion game.

This log came from it: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/875a65dff8f8444b5133464ab1d75be9

And it seems encoding lag is huge.

It just weird that people stream 720/60fps decent quality even worse computers than mine. I don't understand how's that possible and then i cannot do it.

You'd have to talk to them and ask for advice than. That cpu is not a good match for a cpu intensive game mixed with encoding, clock speeds generally don't do much for improved streaming quality though they make for good benchmatks.

23:41:32.810: Output 'simple_stream': Number of skipped frames due to encoding lag: 4010148375 (272.0%) ----> CPU overloaded
23:41:32.810: Output 'simple_stream': Number of lagged frames due to rendering lag/stalls: 312 (0.4%) ---> GPU limiting

try 540p 30 FPS

OR try encoding stream with NVENC but reduce ingame graphics to avoid rendering lag
