Question / Help What is with my microphone quality?!?!

So, I recently started attempting to record my Dark Souls 3 gameplay to send it to a friend and keep progress by checking if I missed any items and such. I used obs and the first time I recorded, my voice was about 20 decibels loud. So, I found voicemeeter banana and VBcable to help with this audio issue. upon boosting the db gain of my microphone, I found the quality was absolute trash and there was constant static! I asked 14 people in a discord chat about my microphone quality, they all said it is good. I used skype before and everyone too said my microphone was good (I was using the same microphone too). Can anyone help me with this problem? The people in the discord chat I sometimes record sound like they're the ones actually recording.
I've been reading on a bunch of help threads and other websites similar and still I'm clueless.

Edit I have no issues with the fps of Dark Souls or the audio of my game

you dont need a external program to make your mic louder in obs. you can do this in obs directly. but keep in mind that you always lose quality when you boost db.
