What is the best way to stream movies from a Mac to a Panasonic TV?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a Panasonic TV and I’m looking for a simple way to stream movies from my MacBook Air. I tried using AirPlay, but it doesn’t seem to be supported on my TV. Does anyone know of any apps or other easy methods that work well?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, I have a recently purchased Panasonic TV too (Z8) and have no issues to use Airplay from my iPad or iPhone. Can you explain more in detail what exactly is the issue?

Does this question have anything to do with OBS? OBS doesn't add outbound streaming capabilities that you don't have otherwise.
At any rate, if the TV doesn't have AirPlay, then the easiest solution is to get an Apple TV to use as the input to the TV.

Sorry.

Just wanted to share a little tidbit and get some advice if possible.

Thanks!

Simple depends on your circumstances. Anything wireless runs risk of RF interference (and almost no one has real time RF monitoring in place)... so a wired connection will almost ALWAYS be more reliable. whether practical for your situation... depends.
And WiFi has far more limited available bandwidth... so, a HDMI connection probably least complicated, simplest, most reliable option

Beyond that... depends on detail specifics of your TV. even a given model category, across different retailers can have slightly different model#/specs (to avoid price matching). So... it depends on what EXECTLY your TV supports... Or, don't play that compatibility game, and go Apple TV, Roku (Some models also support AirPlay), or similar. For reduced issues, an Ethernet connected Roku Ultra (or similar) would be my choice (and what I use throughout my house)

Very detailed answer. Thanks for taking the time. I plan to use Roku for now. I think it should work well.
