Question / Help What CPU is needed for VERYSLOW x264 encoding?

OK, probably a silly question :D

Since my 4770K can only record on superfast if im LUCKY it made me wonder if anyone ever encodes on the fly with the veryslow x264 preset? Is that even possible? What CPU would that be? I'm guessing a quantum computer :P

Depending on the output resolution and other parameters an i7 4770k can easily record 1080p60 on medium as a standalone machine, but you dont really specify any settings and its simply easier to use ultra or superfast to record since it frees up a lot of system resources for the price of disk space

Depends on the resolution and fps. On a i7-6770k, it is possible to encode 1280x720@60 with slow, but 1920x1080@anything with slow isn't possible. Veryslow is even more demanding. Go with the default, veryfast. The quality difference isn't noticeable and not worth the effort if you go for realtime encoding.
