Question / Help Weird audio distortion when streaming/recording Kerbal Space Program

Hi,

I have this weird audio distortion that happens when streaming or recording the game Kerbal Space Program (v1.2) with OBS Studio 17.0.2. It most strongly shows up when I launch a rocket: At first the engine(s) sound is normal, but then the sound becomes like it was underwater. After reverting back to the editor (Vehicle Assembly Building or Spaceplane Hangar), the sound and music return to being normal, but sometimes even the music there can be mildly distorted. The sound is fine through my computer's speakers or headphones.

Here is a video showing the effect: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7mp2HusHgQ&feature=youtu.be

System specs: OBS Studio 17.0.2 with Win 7 Pro 64-bit on an HP Elitebook 8570w (16GB RAM).

I have tried reducing the desktop audio level in OBS, but the effect still happens.

I am clueless about what could be causing this, but since the distortion happens while just doing a recording, I figure it might be an OBS Studio issue, so I am asking here for help.

Thank you!

Well, I managed to solve the issue myself. :)

After a search for NVENC info and link-following, I ended up on a post here about setting up Nvidia cards for laptops. One of the main things it said to do was to go into the Nvidia control panel and add paths for OBS and whatever else to the 3D settings--to make sure they used the Nvidia GPU. I wasn't sure if I had to do that, but I added KSP and OBS anyway, and tried a launch test again, and sure enough, audio works fine now in an OBS recording. Learn new things, I guess. :)
