Webcam source from external non-local address

As long as I use a webcam, which is in the same LAN as the computer where OBS runs, I have access to the webcam.
But, if I change to an address in the internet, it doesn't work, i. e.:
LAN: rtsp://user:password@192.168.88.20:88/videoMain => all good
WAN: rtsp://user:password@DDNS-ADDRESS_or_INTERNET_IP(i. e.: webcam.server.org):88/videoMain => does not work

Does OBS prevent access to external non-local webcams?
