Webcam shows image in the properties window, but black screen when recording

New user. I want to record live video with my webcam. I can see myself when in the source->properties window, but when I return to the main screen it is black.

i have this issue as well see myself in properties window, black window in broadcast window. I have an Aluratek camera running on windows default video camera drivers. i have removed and re added the camera. it works fine in windows.
also only showing active on right channel for sound.
