I've been having a frame rate issue with my C920 ever since I updated to windows 10.

Whenever I am in game the webcam gets really choppy. The frames drop significantly. I alt tab out of the game the cam recovers. It seems when i put load on the system it gets super choppy. I've tried to mess with resolutions and video formats but the cam is still receiving frame issues while in game.

Has anyone else had this issue?

LogFile(Cam source is cxam):

Code:
01:08:32.698: DShow: HDevice::ConnectPins: failed to connect pins (0x80040207): The owner SID on a per-user subscription doesn't exist

Looks like something is breaking the webcam. Try lowering the resolution and see if it becomes more stable.

So i lowered it from 720p to 640x480 and it seems to have fixed it. Going to do a couple more stress tests. Thanks Fenrir

Issue is back.

Things I've tried:
Uninstalling OBS Studio and Installing OBS classic.
Tried every port on the PC.
Swapping out a good known C920
Running OBS as administrator
Reinstalled C920 drivers

Running out of options. I think next step would be to reinstall windows 8.

Only thing I can think of that might be causing the issue is the Direct Show error.

VFW_E_NO_ACCEPTABLE_TYPES
0x80040207
There is no common media type between these pins.

That error usually means bad or broken drivers, or that you're connecting the camera through a USB extender or hub. If you have it through either of those, try directly into the PC. Also, you can try between both 32- and 64-bit OBS, and see if that helps. The drivers might be unstable in 64-bit space but work fine in 32-bit.

I have tried both 32 and 64 bit. Even in logitech Quick Capture it is dropping frames really bad. I've tried all USB ports on the mobo. Ive tried the logitech drivers and the generic windows driver. Maybe I have a bad mobo.

Or a bad webcam. Do you have another PC you can test it on? If it's having issues in the logitech software as well, there's not much we can do on this end, unfortunately :(

I've swapped out with a good known C920. I've tested it on my laptop and it works fine. It is having issues with the logitech viewer software as well. Only thing I can think of is the USB controller on the mobo might be bad as the stream of data is getting interrupted. Thanks Fenrir for sticking with me on this journey. I'm going to try to see if I can get the mobo RMA'd.

Sure thing! I hope you're able to get the hardware issues resolved.
