Question / Help Webcam is square instead of widescreen

Hello! I'm using a logitech c615 webcam. I have been using it to broadcast directly on facebook. Over there is shows up full screen like normal. I'm setting up OBS and my webcam is only showing up as a shortened rectangle, almost square. If I swtich OBS to the native webcam on my laptop it is widescreen. The problem is only happening with the webcam. Any idea why this would be?

The first picture is my webcam on Facebook live. The second picture is what I see on OBS.

I have the same problem but 'fit to screen' doesn't solve it. Makes the picture far too wide, with both top and bottom heavily cropped. OBS should just display a plain widescreen image from the beginning.

Thanks, but it already is. The webcam itself displays a 16:9. But in OBS you see it back as 4:3. And I tried to change settings in OBS too... without any result :(

I have the same issue. Using a BlackMagic Web presenter to PC laptop. Cannot get it to widescreen. When I use the built in web cam from the laptop it is fine. Any help?

I found the setting if anyone is still having this issue.
Go into the camera properties
Change Resolution /FPS Type to Custom
Then set Resolution to 1920 x 1080

Thanks man! I’ve been at this for 4hrs. Your solution worked and it didn’t at all ruin the quality of the camera.

Wanted to follow up on this because it was killing me. I followed the steps above, but after switching resolution/FPS type to custom, OBS wouldn't show me options for Resolution (directly below the resolution/FPS type setting). I tried typing in "1920x1080" and it immediately added that option for me. I'm happy to blame Razer but that worked for me so I created an account to share what worked for me. Cara, sensacional sua dica! Ajudou um irmão aqui do Brasil hoje 26/03/21.
Estou usando Duas Câmeras não OBS: A nativa fazer notebook e Mais uma Logitec c270.
A Logitec entra no OBS quadrada e a webcam do notebook vem como widescreem. Obrigado irmão !!!

DICA: Depois de clicar em Personalizar/Custom, clique em Resolução/Resolution e aparecerá todas as configurações disponíveis, sem precisar digitar.

Given the I like some of the above have found this issue is resolved by setting the resolution to 1920, I wonder if it's got something to do with the way cheap webcams makers fiddle their 4k settings to make us think they are outputting 4k when clearly they are not given the small size of the sensor fitted.
