Hello,

i have a problem with my webcam.
If i run my webcam in 1080p and resize it to a smaller window the picture looks worth you cant read letters anymore and edges look very pixi. I cant find a solution for this. In xsplit i just used enhanced resize and i was fine.
How can i get a clean picture without downscaling my resolution of the webcam?

Hi,

This is nothing but normal behaviour. If your webcam can record at 432x240 at best, then resizing it, will zoom in into the pixels. If your webcam has other specs, then please inform us.

I'll get it in for the next version. Possibly minor version even. It's easy enough to implement.

Very nice thanks looking forward for this. I have seen many streamer having the same problems as me, but i looks like they dont even see or deal with it.

Just out of interest for us less technically minded folks. I force my web cam to 1280x720 by choosing a custom resolution, my base canvas is 1920x1080. I can then shrink it for an in game scene (414x233) or enlarge it for a webcam scene and it looks OK to me. Bear in mind I don't have a scene where it's stretched to 1920x1080 because frankly no one wants to see my face that much :-)

My question is. Is that a good middle ground to avoid the problem this fix is for or have I missed the point entirely.

adrian yes its a possible solution, but not perfect.
I choice a resolution where the window was just as i want it at the end. 432x240 looks like a good size for a webcam. The quali looks pretty nice actually, but it could be better.

FYI I have the exact same issue with blackmagic inputs, but not with the browser source plugin. If I guess right and the browser source is RGB, it might be related to resizing YUV sources only.

Okay it really looks like the souce resizing has an issue with chroma when the source is YUV.

I found a workaround, just add a Crop filter on the source with default values (0/0/0/0). (tested with OBS studio 0.14.2)
