My setup uses two external mics which connect into a separate black magic device(set up is for a group interviews switching live is not necessary) Video works well but audio is weak and attempts to boost using OBS filters/mixer have not worked or has worked but distorted the output/poor quality. Has been suggested we might need an external mixer but that seems unnecessary. Any ideas?

I think a signal booster can help. Check out some of the options at https://www.myamplifiers.com/. It was an effective solution for me.
