Question / Help warning: This encoder is deprecated, use 'h264_nvenc' instead

Hey,

I've seen this in the log.

"warning: This encoder is deprecated, use 'h264_nvenc' instead"

what does it mean? is there maybe a better way to use the nvenc encoder?

or nothing i should care about?

no such thing in your log.
sometimes for some odd reason obs exposes old MFT encoders. create new fresh profile in profile menu to fix it
it should look like this

It means switch from mediafoundation nvenc to the new nvenc.

deleting the profiles and creating new (even deleting obs-studio folder in %appdata%) didn't do the trick.

after I uninstalled obs studio and newly installed 0.15.1 the message is gone.

I am having this issue as well, how do I switch to the new encoder? I only have one encoder option in my output settings

Only one option? You don't even have both "(use stream encoder)" and "x264"?

It has nothing to do with media foundation, its a warning from ffmpeg

Sorry, I should have been more specific, I only have one NVENC encoder, I have both quicksync and x264 options as well.

I have been having the "this encoder is deprecated use h264_nvenc instead" with my issue of streaming and recording with the NVENC encoder. [link here]. is this a known bug?

That is just a warning not a fatal error.
