Question / Help Want to Record Myself Sleeping

Hi. I'm brand new to this software and admittedly just downloaded with the intention of recording myself sleeping because... well... I can't frickin' sleep! According to my fitbit and how exhausted I am all the time, I sleep rougly 3.5 hours a night but very broken up as I'm essentially restless all night but one of my biggest issues is sweating (even just an hour after being in bed). I'm a combat veteran and so it could be a mixture of reasons: night terrors, nightmares, etc. so I want to be able to see my movements/behavior.

This is probably TMI but I figure explaining what I want to capture may help you guys make recommendations. I don't know if I need low-light settings or if I should have a dim light on, if the webcam will continue recording if the laptop goes into sleep mode, if there is a more condensed way to review the video, etc. I am just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for doing this (as user-friendly as possible!). I'd appreciate any input. Thank you!

How the webcam handles low-light situations is completely up to the webcam, it's no OBS thing. OBS just records what the webcam sends. So look how your webcam works and look into the webcam settings.
OBS will probably prevent the computer from going to standby mode while recording. Otherwise recording would just stop.

I'm not sure if OBS is the right recording tool for this. There are webcams/webcam software that has motion detection built in, so it records only when there is motion. It's perhaps not delivered with a laptop built-in webcam, but look for extra webcams. There also may be webcams available for sale that explicitly work good in low-light situations.
