VST host functionality...

That would solve almost every audio problem and request, once added..
I was asking for that years ago (literally) and nothing happened. Can we finally get it done, so people can enjoy professional audio tools (plugins etc) hosted directly in OBS?

Absolutely! Submit your code to GitHub whenever you're ready for it to be evaluated. Unless "we" means "not you," in which case you'll need to wait for someone else to do it.

I´m still a hardware and audio guy, not a coder. Not everyone is capable of doing special work.
But i know for sure that enabling VST host capability and including support for ASIO, WASAPI, Core Audio etc (all the low latency drivers on all plattforms), the whole client should be rewrited, thats not as simple as add a chat plugin.

I still offer my help with testing MIDI, VST, ASIO and DAW integration (via rewire, bridge mode whatever i can slap to that).

This will open low latency software mixing and audio editing on the fly (at least for the input part), solve a lot of delay issues cause low latency drivers are actually capable of working withhin 5-7ms and it will open the door for thousands of plugins that are usually used with a DAW as a host.

This is also the reason why i post it, simply to reach out to the audience of that forum, i`m sure we have people here who can start the project. I just have no idea how far the audio knowledge of the actual creator of OBS is, is he aware of all that stuff or not (thats not well known outside of the audio/musician scene).

What i have found is stuff like that:
http://teragonaudio.com/article/How-to-make-your-own-VST-host.html

Thats for C++, so far i know OBS is native C++. Maybe that will help somebody out. I could actually try and i will, just for the fun of it, but i dont think that learning C++ and getting stuff like that done will happen withhin a reasonable time.

The new audio API improvements might make this easier in the future, Jim would know best.

We will take a look at this stuff. Might be helpful, specially for fixing audio and effects without adding expensive audio gear to the whole chain.
