Question / Help VLC Video Source, now playing?

Ok so after having worked on this, using SMG to get VLC to display the current song and artist, once I actually started up OBS I realized that I'm using the VLC Video Source to play music when I go into 'away' during a stream. SMG can't capture that information without the media player running, so my question is..

Is there a way to capture the currently playing song when you use VLC Media Source as opposed to opening the media player?
