Question / Help "VLC Video Source" displays filenames at start

When using VLC Video Source to play a VLC playlist, it shows the filename onscreen at the beginning of each video in the playlist.

In VLC, this can be turned off by going into Tools->Subtitles & OSD-> Uncheck "Show media title at video start"

Is there a way to adjust VLC settings like this from within OBS?

Use "path" in the VLC option to add video's instead of files then your problem is solved.

Can you show an example of this happening? I have tried everything, and cannot cause this behavior in OBS itself. Are you sure you're using the VLC source itself?

Hi! I'm going through this exact same issue where when using VLC Video Source to play a VLC playlist in OBS, it shows the filename onscreen at the beginning of each video in the playlist.

I've tried all the solutions in this thread and none of it has worked to remove the file name showing up onscreen at the beginning of each video.

Has anybody found a solution to this issue?
Thanks!

I have an old version of VLC 2.0.5 and OBS 25.0.8. When you add VLC source in obs and add a file, set "always play" and you will get file name at start of video. I am trying to shut this off and it is shut off in VLC but still displays file name. This isn't an elegant answer but you could add a black bar to the bottom of your videos file. Then Trim the bottom with trimming tool.. It's a poop answer but will semi-work.

I fingured it out. Use VLC source, then set up TUNA (another OBS plugin) to display the title (that will be filename) and time. Mostly made for music, but also works perfectly with video files.

TUNA will put all the info of playing file in text file, and in OBS you can use said text file to display right on the stream.
