Question / Help Visual C++ 2017 Missing, even with 2015-2019 version

Hello all,

I've been trying to install OBS on my system, and each time I get the error I've seen posted about before, about having missing components. It's Visual C++ (2017), but I already have the 2015-2019 version (both 64 and x86) installed on this computer. The download page OBS brings me to makes a duplicate of the .exe used to install those versions; launching it only prompts me to repair or uninstall the 2015-2019 version, or cancel.

Is there something I'm missing here? Is there a download specific to the 2017 version that I'll have to find? I'm not very tech-savvy, so I apologize if this has a really simple solution.

After you installed the visual c++ runtime, start Windows Update and make it actively search for updates. This means click on the "search for updates" button.
It will detect the freshly installed visual c++ runtime has an update available and will update it. After that, you should be able to install OBS. OBS requires the updated runtime that comes through Windows Update. After update, you are on the safe side if you reboot and check Windows Update again actively for updates and make sure none is available this time. This way you are really sure you have all updates installed and no updates pending.

If Windows Update doesn't offer you an update, and OBS still complains about missing components, you have a somehow broken Windows Update or Windows installation.
