Question / Help virtual WebCam failed to start output

Hey everyone if someone could help me it would be awesome
due to our "great friend" COVID-19 I'm teaching my classes through cisco webex and i thought of using a virtual background as a fun moment for some of my students
the problem is every time after adding the virtual cam and starting it through the filter settings I then check through tools to see if its recording or working and it isn't even if i click the start button i get the FAILED TO START OUTPUT message under the start button which I don-t get why
I've tried somethings like installing and uninstalling and well that didn't really work
Can anyone tell me if I'm doing something wrong ?
maybe it might be my fault

VirtualCam error about failed to ______ output

VirtualCam got your camera, but something is still holding onto the OBS Camera you selected. Choose a different OBS Camera from the drop down and try to Start it, if it works you'll need to find which app has the OBS Camera chosen (see the list above) and terminate it, then you can go back and re-select OBS Camera. Or just switch your outputs to the new one you chose.

So it says, that you have to close all programs, that actively use/ request the data of the virtual cam. i did it(discord) and started the virtual cam. then i started discord again and it worked! :)

What worked for me is adding myself to the video group. then logout and in. (or reboot)
I am on ubuntu 22.04 Jammy Jellyfish.
Now I can start the virtual camera and use it in ms teams
