Virtual cam lag and crash

Hi everyone,
I'm experiencing some weird lag in Zoom (5.7.6) when using OBS virtual cam on OBS 27.0.1. I will get sometimes 1 min or sometimes up to 10 mins of smooth(ish) video feed into Zoom and then it starts to drop crazy amounts of frames and falls further and further behind until the video might be up to a minute delayed getting into Zoom. OBS is still showing my camera sources as smooth inputs but the Virtual cam side of things falls way behind. I saw a post about deleting the "old" virtual cam plugin, before it became native with the OBS app, and I've tried that.. No luck. It is so hit and miss, sometimes it works for a few minutes, but it always becomes choppy and lags way behind my audio feed going into OBS (I have a mix of drums in my DAW coming into OBS via Soundflower).

What's more is that OBS is crashing A LOT for me and I'm not sure if the problem is linked to my Virtual Cam feed slowing down.

Can anyone help me here? I'm running a highly specced 2020 Macbook Pro on OSX 10.15.7

Here is a log I took just after a virtual cam slow down and subsequent crash.

Thanks in advance, I'm really hoping to solve this.. I just want a Virtual Cam feed that is reliable.. Could this just be a problem with Zoom accepting the feed?

Hey, I'm having the same issue. I'm on a current MacBook Pro OS 11.6.7 and using OBS virtual cam with Chrome/Google Meet. I have the same scenario of symptoms: an initially fine connection, then frame lag that quickly worsens and forces me to end the call. My CPU fans are also at maximum. I consulted the YouTube suggestions and turned off Hardware Acceleration in Chrome and ensured no extensions were running. No change/same problem. Thinking this could be a Chrome issue, I downloaded Microsoft Edge for MacOS as it's the only other Mac compatible browser besides Chrome (since OBS doesn't support Safari) and encountered the same issue with severe frame lag using virtual camera with Google Meet.

Did you (or anyone) find a solution? My employer uses Google Meet exclusively, so I don't have other options for video conferencing. If OBS Virtual Camera "just doesn't work" with these browsers when in Google Meet-ings, has anyone had luck with other virtual camera applications?
