View source content outside canvas?

I use a plugin which uses a text source for status information. I want to be able to view this information but not have it be viewable to the viewers. If I move the source out of the canvas, the content turns to the slanted bars. If I have the source in another scene I can view it in studio mode but prefer not to go this route as the monitor is small.
Is it possible to view a source that is outside the canvas?

The only real way to do it is to right click the source in the list and open a Windowed Projector.
