Video source issue

Complete newbie here and I am doing some testing. I want to capture 1920 X 1080, I have my DSLR in video mode using the HDMI output converted to USB input to my computer. The only way I can get a video signal is to turn on "Use Preset" for the properties of "Video Capture device". If I uncheck it to choose a different resolution the video goes away. Plus, in the drop down, I do not even see 1920 X 1080?

What am I missing?

I'm using OBS 25.0.8 for Mac. Here is what worked for me.
Select "Tools" from menu bar at the top of the Screen
Select "NDI Output Settings" from the Tools pulldown.
Then uncheck the Main Output and Preview Output boxes.

You should be able to change the settings. Then just go back to Tools and turn the outputs back on by checking the boxes you unchecked.
