Question / Help Video source audio muted

I'm having problems to get audio from video sources to be audible.
The peak meter in the mixer section of OBS 0.13.3 is showing the audio from the video, I just can't seem to monitor it. It also does not get recorded when I start a local recording.

Is there something I'm overlooking?

Inability to hear a video source as the broadcaster has been a problem since the OBS Multiplatform rewrite. Unsure about said audio playing to local recordings or a livestream target. I honestly don't use video sources much purely because without the ability to hear the video, they're nearly useless except to play gifs, really. A sorely missed feature that was present in the original OBS, for sure.

I can't monitor a video source but I can hear it in the recording no problem. I hate to ask this but what video player are you watching the recording back in? If it's something that shipped with Windows please try VLC.

So I just reinstalled my borked VLC installation and now I get audio from the recording. Thanks for recommending trying VLC again.
I assume that this means that audio from video sources is getting broadcast when streaming, right?
Unfortunately still no audio monitoring though even after the recent 0.13.4 update.
