Question / Help Video source audio eclipses existing mic audio

Hi all,

TL;DR version: whenever I try to play source video with audio monitoring in my stream, my mic audio is no longer audible.

Long version:

Sorry if this is covered elsewhere but I don't really know how to search for my problem.

I was using a single Blue Yeti USB mic for all my stream audio (voice + live piano). When version 18 of OBS came out with audio monitoring for video sources, I tried to do a duet with myself on stream by playing the piano live to accompany a pre-recorded video. But as soon as the video started playing, my viewers said they could no longer hear my mic audio, or that they only heard very occasional fragments (severe stuttering). I made sure everything was enabled in the mixer and fiddled with the settings/channels somewhat, but I couldn't figure it out and abandoned the attempt in the end.

Since many people stream with multiple audio inputs all the time, I get the feeling there is something simple that I'm missing. Anyone have any ideas on what the problem might be?

Thank you all very much,

Brent.
