Question / Help Video playback buffering

Hello to all,

I am new to this community and I'm trying to record some games to hopefully improve my gaming skills,

So I record my games beautifully and there are no problems with it. The only issue I have is say I want to skip to 40 mins into the video. The time it takes to buffer to that time in the video takes quite a while and it only makes it worse when I try to run it on a laptop with lower quality hardware. So my question to the community is, is this a software issue where it is simply a matter of messing with the settings or is this something that has to do with hardware?

I've tried researching on the forum, but most of them have to do with audio playback or video quality during recording or maybe I'm not using the correct keyword?

I am not including a log file since the software is doing it's job, but if needed I will be more than happy to supply one.

Any help would be great! thank you very much! :D

Depending what settings you are using may make the video harder to play back.

Also your hard drive may be an issue. The normal read and write speed may be fine but if the random read is slow it will take a while finding the data it needs.

Also if you shoot heavily compressed your computer may have a hard time reading the high compression.

If you upload a log I can look at your settings and see if there is something that might be causing slow playback. (Make sure there is a recording/stream in the log)

This laptop does not have the OBS so It will be a while before I can post the log, but it should be up late tomorrow. Thank you so much!

Wrong forum. You are using OBS classic, this forum is for OBS Studio.

I don't really know much about OBS classic, it is old you should update to OBS studio there is no reason not to nowadays.

Didn't know that...

Um, I guess I'll upgrade then. That response is so fast though! Merry Christmas and happy new years! I'll repost if I continue to have the same issue. Thanks again!
