Video Echo

I've just "captured" video from a VHS tape to my laptop. When I open and run the video there is an echo to the sound. Is there a way to take the echo off of the video? If not when O rerecord the video how do i arrange the setting(s) so that there isn't an echo? The VHS tape does not have an echo to the recording.

You need to digitize it again. Because, by default, OBS mixes all audio sources into one track. Mix controlled through the main menu Edit > Advanced Audio Properties, there you can set which source will be mixed to which track. The number of audio tracks can be set in the Settings > Output (you need one track). Number of channels in each track can be set in the Settings > Audio (usually Stereo at 48 kHz).

Thanks. Yet another question. The source will be the output of the VCR? Does it matter which track is chosen? These are old VHS recordings most likely recorded in monophonic. I look forward to gaining some mastery of this programs nuances and capabilities. I really do appreciate your responses.

Yes. When you adding the Video Capture Device source to the Sources list of OBS - the audio from it should appear in the Audio Mixer pane. Desktop speakers and Mic not needed for your task - by default, they are enabled because OBS is tool for gamers who are recording and streaming of what is going on theirs screens. In your case better to use 1st track. Stereo or Mono - depends on capture device. Leave it at "Stereo" for compatibility (OBS automatically convert it to flat stereo format when needed).

There is special section on the forum with guides (some featuring video tutorials):

Other difficulties and alternatives during VHS capture with OBS were mentioned in this thread (and in the related links):
