Question / Help Video capture effects by scene

I have a video capture device grabbing our projector's HDMI feed. Mostly it shows white text on black. I created a filter to drop out the black with Color Key.
A few adjustments and now the white text overlays camera video.
I then wanted to create a different scene where the HDMI capture is full color (no filter).
But after several tries, the Color Key filter seems to be tied to the capture device and can't be changed among different scenes.

Is this a feature in OBS? That filters work on the source and can't be configured differently for different scenes?

Instead of adding a filter to the source directly, place the source into a group and apply the filter to the group.

You are correct though. It is a "feature" of OBS that all filters will be applied to the source regardless of which scene it's included in. Mainly because OBS doesn't have separate source instances between scenes -- it's the same object, just being sent to different compositions.
