Question / Help Video capture does not work

I just installed OBS and am trying to do a screen capture, no streaming, and the audio capture works fine but I am not getting any video showing when I play the FLV file. Seemingly no video being captured. I'm simply going to OBS and clicking on "start recording." I'd appreciate your help (relative newbie on this kind of s/w).

Did you add any sources?

I see the + sign and "sources" at the bottom of the screen, and can add "windows capture" and "video capture" but it doesnt seem to do anything.

Being that I like to solve these things thru the forum, I tried searching "add video sources" and you can see the results I got in the attachment - not very helpful.

What did you try to capture when you added those sources?

I am trying to do a screen capture of a basic application tutorial, so I would be moving the mouse, opening and closing and doing things and talking.

For that, depending on the application, would need display capture. Display capture is also the only source type on mac capable of capturing the mouse pointer (thank apple for that one, they block other source types from being able to capture it)

Simple, once you know what you're doing. I created start/stop hotkeys and I'm in like Flynn!
