Question / Help Video capture device supported in Classic, not Studio

I've got an ADS Technologies Pyro A/V Link to capture video. The device works fine with OBS Classic but the video won't show up for preview/capture in OBS Studio. The device shows up in studio (so I can add it as a source) but no video comes in. The reason I'm not satisfied with Classic is that I want to be able to control the file format, codec, and bitrate capture as you can in Studio. I'm looking for a workflow to capture video according to archival practices so to find a process that doesn't involve re-encoding.

Any thoughts or suggestions for either A) how to get my device working with Studio or B) how to get more format flexibility with Classic?

Device hasn't proper directshow driver/filter/input, I think. If manufacturer write one, then it becomes supported by Studio. If you can play this device realtime - try window capture in Studio. It is only my thoughts, so don't make rely on them.

Gotcha, thanks. The manufacturer has gone out of business so an updated driver isn't going to happen.

Any thoughts to why the driver would work with Classic but not Studio? I'm wondering if there is a specific component of the older software that I could transpose to Studio.

Run VirtualDub for example in Capture mode and see what device types available for capture, then go to Studio and see the difference. If there is no device - then it not supported by Studio.

Edit: Studio is open source software, maybe some input plugins could be written later.

Alas, it is not supported by Studio :( The device works in VirtualDub and Classic so maybe it'll get support later. I've been playing around with alternative and generic drivers but no dice.
