Vhs video capture only recorded small screen

I am trying to capture old home movies from vhs. The preview of the video is full screen, but the recording only appears in the upper left corner at the smallest ratio. I already went into settings and put the input and output ratio at its largest setting. How do I make it so the video captured and recorded is full size and not a small area to the upper left surrounded by black.
