VHS conversion via OBS sound issues

Hi all, new to OBS and have recently decided to help my dad convert his old VHS tapes to an external hard drive he can plug into his TV.
I've set everything up and managed to get the video showing in OBS but there is no sound. I've been trying for ages to get sound working but nothing. Is there anyone that can help me please?

I had it working once before but the VHS player broke down so had to buy a new one and this new one just isn't working out :(

Have attached some settings but let me know if you need anything else. Thanks if you can help!

Further update. When I close down OBS I can still hear the VHS faintly. So the sound I can hear is not from OBS but from my PC. I have no idea where to go to get this fixed....

Edit: Weirdly, if I crank the volume on my soundbar upto max I can hear sound very faintly
I'm wondering if that is hardware or software difference between Line In and Speaker settings
some PCs allow a single audio port to be used as either, and controlled via software. Other motherboards have specific line-in vs speaker-level input.
So
- hardware level (motherboard) input? or the audio output port used on the VHS tape player
- Operating System audio software
- Operating System settings

Audio is NOT my area of expertise. but tech troubleshooting is.. so my $0.02
- confirm (know, not hope/think) audio output of VHS player.. that is connect to known good other audio device to confirm sound and sound level output
do NOT take my word for this, but I believe using a Line-Out (vs Speaker-Out) is preferred, though either can work. Very old memory seems to be that Line-Out might be 'cleaner'... maybe... (again, research this for yourself, and as always, your specific hardware may vary from general advice)

Then - describe the audio and video path to PC? are you using a USB Capture dongle/adapter where you are connecting 3 RCA cables? or ??
