Hey guys, I am having some trouble and would appreciate it if someone could help me figure this out..

Yesterday I tried to stream Rainbow Six Siege and while streaming, I was not lagging at all, but on twitch the stream was lagging so hard it looked like 1 fps, so I tried to turn down the CPU Encoder preset from "very fast" to "super fast" and it some what worked, the lag almost went away completely, but the quality was now very bad, and was pretty much unwatchable... What I do not understand is, why am I unable to stream this game with OKAY quality while using a 1080?!!? I specifically bought it to stream, and I am having more issues then ever.

Here is a clip of the lag I am talking about (Only the stream was lagging, not me):

My rig:

CPU: i5 4690k 3.5gz
GPU: GTX 1080
Ram: 8GB Ripjaws
Mainboard: z97-a
PSU: Corsair 750watt

Here are all of my current settings:

A copy of a log is provided.

Your CPU cannot keep up with encoding frames. You should probably upgrade to an i7 if you have a GTX 1080.

How can my GPU not keep up? I don't understand, it's a 1080...

He means CPU. RB6 Siege is extremely CPU heavy. Therefore your CPU can not encode and stream thus giving you this encoding lag. Upgrading to a i7 with additional threads/cores helps against this. If you can't upgrade, consider Quicksync or NVENC to handle your encoding with a lower quality trade off.

Alright, so if I upgraded to let's say a i7 6700k, I would be able to stream the game without any issues?

You would need a new motherboard as the 4690K was an LGA1150 socket. While the 6700K is an LGA1151. If you don't want to upgrade the motherboard, just go with an i7-4790K as it's the same series as what you're using.

Understood, I am just wondering if the 6700k is the best way to go at this point, I don't really care about upgrading the motherboard, I just want to have a good enough pc to stream any game I want at a good quality.

You could also just try downscaling to 720p, as 1080p is going to look like poop at those bitrates.
I downgraded to 720p and put on quick sync instead and the stream is no longer lagging, but the quality isn't the best, although it is watchable.

I am probably just going to end up upgrading my PC for a 4th time, this time I WANT TO GET IT RIGHT.....

Will an i7 6700k be able to stream all games with the current build I have? (excluding the motherboard of course).

What games I want to stream:

Rainbow Six Siege
CS:GO
H1Z1
GTA
NewZ
7 Days to Die

There are plenty more, but these are the main games, would a 6700k, with a 1080, be able to stream all of this without lagging?

We need logs to really know what's going on. QuickSync will give significantly worse quality per bitrate than x264, so that explains why it's not looking great when you made that change. However, QuickSync is a hardware encoder, while x264 is a software encoder. If you're overloading your PC, and that's what's causing issues, then you'll need to consider capping FPS in the games you're playing. Anything over your monitor's refresh rate is wasted anyway.

Checked out your most recent VOD and that honestly looks awesome quality wise for a 720p30fps QuickSync stream. IF your performance issues are gone and you aren't to eager to rush into getting a new build put together. What you got now should suffice.

And yes, that would be able to take care of all the games listed. I also play NewZ too.
