Vertical lines ("smears") compression artefacts on start up

Hi. I'm a new user of OBS (26.1.2) on Mac. As my photo shows, when I start the app up, the video is dominated by compression artefacts - vertical smears that disappear when movement happens in those pixels. I know it is not coming from the camera as I can view the feed both via VLC and Synology Surveillance Station, and there are no artefacts, only in OBS. It is not just on my monitor, it's also in the OBS output to YouTube. The photo looks low-res as I'm using a very old monitor as it is in a place where the gear could get damp.

The only way I've found to stop it is to wave my hand in front of the camera, but as it is in a active duck's nest in a tree hollow eight feet up, it's not a great workaround.

After viewing various posts on this forum, I've tried playing with deinterlacing settings to no effect (it's a progressive feed anyway). Input and output settings are both 1440 x 1080.

Any ideas? Help will be much appreciated.
