Hi

I am new to OBS and having issues getting rid of black bars with my Logitech C922 webcam after a lot of trying. I have searched and played around for the answer to no avail.

I have a Dell XPS15 Laptop which has a 16:9 ratio @ 3840x2160
OBS Video out Canvas & Output set at 1280x720 (a 16:9 ratio)Using 30 fps
Logfile if of use: https://obsproject.com/logs/JiQIvK_5nBOfoX8e

I have downloaded Logitech camera app and even tried it on widescreen with no luck as well as other resolutions in PC display and OBS.

I have also tested an old Microsoft LifeCam hd5000 with the same result of black bars as per the screenshot
The regular camera with the Dell xps15 *does not show the black bars* which is confusing to me being a newbie to all this.

I really need to be rid of these bars and having great success with OBS other than this.
Can anyone help at all, have I overlooked something?

Thanks in advance.

Code:
15:36:54.793: [DShow Device: 'Video Capture Device'] settings updated:
15:36:54.793: video device: c922 Pro Stream Webcam
15:36:54.793: video path: \\?\usb#vid_046d&pid_085c&mi_00#a&f09b052&0&0000#{65e8773d-8f56-11d0-a3b9-00a0c9223196}\global
15:36:54.793: resolution: 640x480

You need to also set the webcam to a 16:9 resolution (properties of the "video capture device" source).

Ahhh, thanks so much, i can not find anywhere in the logitech cam the settings for this and assumed it was set automatically.
I adjust in logitech settings if I ever find them or in OBS which I have tried?

It would be in OBS on the properties for the video capture device. You may need to set "Custom" instead of "Device Default".

I have no idea why, but I am unable to get that screen you show above which I see everywhere except on my copy of obs!

What I did is delete the cam in SOURCE in OBS and reentered the cam as a source and it came in at correct resolution automatically.

I may need to reinstall OBS perhaps as I am not getting the options you show above?

Could you post a screenshot of the behavior you're seeing? That doesn't sound right.

so the window comes up without all the adjustment options and being a newbie it was right under my nose the whole time but didn't know as I saw no pull tab like in windows popups... :)

btw...OBS is amazing, the number of issues I have had recording sound and video for months mostly solved in one place, audio filters are great! It's amazing!
