Using the Wrong GPU for OBS Recording/Streaming?

Hi all,

I got a new laptop in the past couple months with decent specs - I can grab these if they aren't present in the log file.

Up until a couple of weeks ago I had no issue with recording or streaming using OBS, however recently my CPU usage can get up to 70% just recording using x264 very fast, and up to 20% using QuickSync (the only other encoder I have available) alongside FPS dropping to 40-50% which is amplified when I try to do anything else on the laptop.

Here are the log files for a short recording as an example: https://obsproject.com/logs/ZiwTTbj5I1YW34pm

When I put this log into the OBS log analyser, two critical points arose:

I checked on Nvidea control panel and OBS is clearly set to high performance NVIDIA Processor

I am not sure why this log report believes I am using intel GPU for OBS. Regardless, does anyone have any suggestions how to reduce my CPU usage, my Specs are better than a number of my friends who don't seem to have these issues.

On windows 10, 1903 and up (original poster is on 1909) the nvidia control panel is the wrong spot for setting which graphics obs is set to run on.
