Using OBS with Video Capture Card to pull audio and video from SonyCamcorder

Hello all, apologies in advance for the newbie ness of this, but I'm trying to pull Video and Audio from my Sony Camcorder to my Mac using video capture card. The main problem I'm having is the sound quality, I think it's picking up the output from the computer speakers rather than the video tape. I can get the video okay, any pointers as to settings ? Again, sorry for the newbie ness.

Yes, I've been looking further and it looks like I may need to go from the A/V out port on my Camcorder instead of the S-Video (what I'm currently using ) ?
