Is it possible to use OBS for game capture, by running the game on my desktop and OBS on my laptop and hooking them together in a home network.

I dare say yes.
you can stream from your pc lossless with obs into the network from your game pc and then receive this with your laptop runs obs.
with this you save some cpu power on the game pc.
NDI does something similar

but I'd recommend a capture card.

I was planning on it as soon as I can afford one. Right now though I have two good to decent Windows 10 gaming pcs. One desktop and one laptop. I am currently making all content on the laptop but I have to set my video quality to 720p at bicubic sampling and ultra-fast speed on preset CPU usage just to be able to play my game on the laptop also. So, I wanted to make sure I could use both my pcs in the why I was thinking until I can get a capture card. Thanks for the quick response. I was almost certain it should be doable I just wanted to check with others who are probably far more knowledgeable on the subject than I am as I am just starting as a gaming content creator.
